What It Means When a Foster Child “Ages Out

Approximately 24,000 American teenagers in foster care turn 18 years old each year. At this age, they are expected to move out and start their lives on their own. Many still in high school, these teens find themselves in need of jobs, a place to live, and a means of transportation to survive. Forever Family makes the plight of “aging out” youth a priority and works to change how these young people are viewed and supported through their journey into adulthood after being in foster care.
